FAKRO egress roof windows allow you to appreciate the light and fresh air and they also are designed for rooms where building codes require two methods of egress (escape). This thermally insulated escape window is side-hung and therefore side-opening. Once unlocked, the sash can be opened to 90 degrees. A gas piston, fitted in the top part of the window, makes opening easier, holding the sash stable when opened and preventing it from accidentally slamming shut. Made from pressure treated pine wood, it's coated with a water-based clear acrylic lacquer that requires no additional painting. Easy to install, it comes with its own template to help you cut an exact roof opening. Suitable for roof pitches from 15 to 55 degrees, the FWU egress window requires FAKRO flashing models ELW and EHW (flashings for skylights are not suitable for egress windows). This egress window has an outside frame measuring 23-1/2 x 46-1/4 Inch and it requires a rough opening of 22-1/4 x 45-1/4 Inch. The low emission, heat reflecting double-glazed tempered glass window lets in the light, but not the heat and it has 4.41 square feet of daylight area.
